Jazz’s first book…

…or, at least, one of the first books I ever received and still own. I was visiting my mum yesterday and while clearing out her house, she found this Beatrix Potter book that had been given to me on my first birthday (nearly 24 years ago!)

What was one of the first books you ever owned?ย

Note how Josephine Bunny is licensed to sell tobacco…how times have changed.

  1. First, what a neat find!
Second, selling tobacco…yes, times have changed.
Third…I think it was “The Littlest Angel.” Another one of those make-you-cry books for kids. Not sure what the thinking is behind those books. I can’t read them to my own kids, because I cry too much to finish them.
Fourth (and final), have you seen the movie “Miss Potter”? It’s a beautiful film about Beatrice Potter. You should totally check it out.

    1. I know, I couldn’t believe it when my mum handed it to me! I think what shocked me most is how good a condition it’s in. Definitely something I’d like to pass down one day.
I haven’t heard of ‘The Littlest Angel’ but the name alone tells me that it’s a make-you-cry book ๐Ÿ˜› I know, right? There are so many supposed kids’ stories that are real tear jerkers! ‘The Little Match Girl’ springs to mind as a prime example! Being a kid is about having fun, not being downtrodden by your bedtime stories!
I haven’t seen that movie, but I have heard of it! It’s the one with Renee Zelwegger, right?

      1. Yep, thatโ€™s the one. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to watch that movie.
Being down trodden by their bed time stories. Ha! Seriously though, itโ€™s weird.
