Music Monday – ‘Shudder Before The Beautiful’ Nightwish

musicmonday

I’ve decided to join in on the fun and participate in Music Monday because to be quite honest, I have a bloody fantastic taste in music. Music Monday is hosted by Drew @ The Tattooed Book Geek and is an opportunity to not only share your love of music, but to also get some good song and band recommendations.

My song choice this week is Shudder Before The Beautiful by Nightwish. It’s an incredible song of epic proportions and it just pumps me up, regardless of what I’m doing. It’s such a powerful piece of music and one that I never tire of listening to. I’ve also included the instrumental version because that was the first version I listened to and fell in love with (there used to be a gorgeous video for the instrumental version on YouTube, but I can’t find it). I hope you enjoy it!

Lyrics
The deepest solace lies in understanding
This ancient unseen stream
A shudder before the beautiful
Awake ocean born
Behold this force
Bring the outside in
Explore the self to epiphany
The very core of life
Is soaring higher of truth and light
The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering
Before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We’re the voyagers
Tales from the seas
Cathedral of greed
The very core of life
Is soaring higher of truth and light
The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering
Before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We’re the voyagers
The unknown
The grand show
The choir of the stars
Interstellar
Theater play
The nebula curtain falls
Imagination
Evolution
A species from the veil
As we wander
In search of
The source of the tale
The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering
Before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We’re the voyagers
The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering
Before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We’re the voyagers
The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love
This vagrant island Earth
A pilgrim shining bright
We are shuddering
Before the beautiful
Before the plentiful
We’re the voyagers

  1. OK, this is interesting.. I haven’t listened to Nightwish since Tarja’s departure from the band… I LOVED Nightwish with Tarja, after that not so much… hence it’s interesting to give it a try again 😀
I used to listen to Nightwish when I had a lot of walking to do- tha symphonic metal really puts a pep in a step! 😀
gosh, I am such a fussy fecker… I really just can’t connect with anyone other than Tarja.. it’s like when movies have sequels and they change the main character’s actor.. like bloody Transporter did… I mean, I didn’t mind the new Frank, he’s hot as hell, but it’s aaarrrgh! 😀
Or you knoww, AC/DC is good with Brian Johnson, but honestly- AC/DC were BEST with Bon Scott! When the important piece in the band changes, so does the dynamic seem to shift… I am really being picky aren’t I ?D
Anyway, instrumental is still good here… maybe I just need to give it time and fall in love with them again…

    1. I’ve heard A LOT of people say this, but, to be quite honest, I like Tarja Nightwish and the various incarnations of the band following her departure. I think a lot of that is down to the fact that I only really started listening to them about two years ago after a friend introduced me to them. He introduced me to Tarja’s work with them, but I began to listen to their other stuff too. I almost see them as two separate bands, each with their own unique sound 😀 Have you listened to any of Tarja’s solo stuff?
I haven’t watched Transporter or listened to much AC/DC, but I understand your pain 😛 Once you connect with a specific person, it’s difficult to connect with the person that then fills their role!
